01 Material

Made of
leather.

Tumbled leather with a visible grain, and a Swoosh stitched on top of the quarter panel — not printed, not welded.

02 Anatomy

Every piece
has a seam.

    Flat laces through the eyestays.

  2. 02

The padded ring that holds the ankle.

  3. 03

Nylon with foam behind it, and the tag on top.

The flap that carries the Wings logo.

  5. 05

    Swoosh

One leather piece, stitched on top of the quarter.

  6. 06

    Heel counter

The overlay that wraps and stiffens the heel.

Perforated leather, with the cap stitched over it.

  8. 08

    Midsole & outsole

A cupped midsole on a rubber outsole.

03 Rebuild

Stitch
by stitch.

The pieces find their seams again, and two needles close the last one — a double row of red stitching that holds the toe cap to the perforated toe box.

04 The Wings

The Wings.

1985The year the Air Jordan 1 released.
Peter MooreThe designer behind the original, and the Wings logo.
“Banned”The black and red pair that became a legend.

05 Fit

Lace
up.

Flat laces, pulled through the eyestays, tightened from the toe to the collar.

06 Outsole

Built to
land.

A rubber outsole with a pivot circle under the ball of the foot — made for turning on a hardwood floor.
